CrewBrew is a personal app for airline pilots: roster, duty times, logbook, documents and pay slips. It is built and used by one person and has no server of its own. Your information stays on your devices and in your own Google account.
What CrewBrew keeps
Everything you put into the app (roster and duty details, logbook entries, documents you add, pay slips, leave and settings) is stored on your phone or tablet. Nothing is sent to the developer, and there are no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
Google Drive sync (optional)
If you turn on sync, CrewBrew signs in to your own Google Drive to keep your devices in step. It asks for two limited permissions:
drive.file: to create and read only the files CrewBrew itself puts in a “CrewBrew” folder in your Drive (your documents and pay slips). It cannot see any other file in your Drive.drive.appdata: to keep the app’s own sync data in Drive’s hidden app folder, which only CrewBrew can read.
This data goes only between your devices and your Google account. The developer never receives it, it is not shared with anyone, and it is not used for anything other than syncing your own app. You can turn sync off in the app at any time, and remove CrewBrew’s access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
CrewBrew’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Other permissions on your phone
- Calendar (read): to read your roster from the airline calendar on your phone.
- SMS (incoming only, optional): to pick out the company cab booking text (cab number and OTP). Other messages are ignored and never stored; the inbox is not read.
- Health Connect (read, optional): sleep and recovery data from your watch, shown alongside your duties. It stays on the phone.
- Camera: to scan documents and boarding passes.
- Notifications and alarms: duty reminders you set up.
Services the app contacts for you
To show flight and weather information, CrewBrew looks up public data (weather reports, flight status pages) and, only if you add your own keys or accounts in Settings, services such as a traffic-aware drive time or your own logbook. What it sends is what the lookup needs, such as an airport code or flight number.
Backups
If you choose a backup folder, CrewBrew writes its daily backup there, on your own device or storage you control.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on that device. Files in your Drive’s CrewBrew folder stay until you delete them; removing the app’s access to your Google account deletes its hidden sync data.
